Fountain Slide tiene una larga historia de problemas de estabilidad. El talud está delimitado aguas abajo por el río Fraser y aguas arriba por una carretera y un ferrocarril. Esta etapa del proyecto se centró en la estabilización de un tramo del ferrocarril que ha sufrido grandes daños en su sistema de contención.
La mina Ernest Henry es una gran mina de cobre a tajo abierto con mineralización más profunda que fue orientada a la minería subterránea. Se llevó a cabo un estudio de factibilidad (FS) para evaluar el potencial de explotación del componente subterráneo mediante métodos de hundimiento por subniveles.
Se llevó a cabo un proyecto de investigación sobre tunelería en condiciones mixtas (suelo y roca) con el objetivo de aumentar el conocimiento y comprender mejor los mecanismos de deformación cuando surgen estas condiciones particulares. Un análisis posterior de un estudio de caso que involucró el paso del túnel bajo la iglesia de María Magdalena se realizó como una segunda tarea del proyecto, en el que la estratigrafía del suelo, el refuerzo de roca/suelo y la secuencia de extracción se simularon explícitamente y en detalle.
